How much are you worth as a health & fitness professional?

Are you concerned that you aren't making enough money as a health and fitness professional?

Well, the next obvious questions would be how much do you charge, and are you getting clients who pay the prices you charge? Are you retaining your clients? And because I come from a business finance background, I'm going to ask you if you getting ROI (return on investment)?

Is it really that easy?  Unfortunately, not really.

Whether you've been around six minutes, six years, or six decades, there are many factors that go into your worth as a health and fitness professional.  

THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING

If you are an experienced health and fitness professional, you have black and white proof that what you do is valuable. For example, if you've taught hundreds of fitness classes, I'm sure you feel super confident charging your clients what you think the class and your programs are worth and what you need to make in order for it to be worth your time as well as the expertise you bring to the table.

If you've assisted hundreds of clients over several years in reaching their health and fitness goals, you are confident that the programs and services you offer work, so you can charge accordingly, with no hesitations.

You are making great money, right?  If the answer is, "wrong," then keep reading.

NEWBIES & FEELING "STUCK"

What if you are new? What if you are stuck? What if you haven't had that many personal training clients yet? What if you feel stuck at a certain price point and are not sure whether to charge more, even though you feel like you are being robbed and giving away your goodness?

Often times the name or trademark of what you do (Zumba® Fitness, TRX, Bootcamp, Personal Training, etc.) is the brand name that people recognize, but what determines your worth—how much you charge, how much you get paid, how many clients you get, and how long you stay in the health and fitness industry—YOU. 

HOW TO EARN YOUR WORTH

If you are just starting out, lack experience, don't have raving fans yet, or are NOT achieving the success you thought you would by now, you have two advantages: enthusiasm and your personal story.

How to earn your worth tip #1:  Enthusiasm

You have to ooze enthusiasm and passion for what you are offering or else no one is going to jump on your trainer train. If you are new, you are still an unproven commodity. Studying really hard for a few months (for some certifications it's much longer, I know!), or taking a class for 8 hours and receiving a license isn't going to make it easy for you to come out of the gates earning $100+ an hour. Get experience, learn, and improve your skills! Then, you can go out and confidently charge. If you are not new and are still not charging confidently, keep reading.

How to earn your worth tip #2:  Your Personal Transformation Story

If you are new and don't have any (or very few) testimonials or experience under your belt yet, you have to use your own experience and transformation to sell yourself. And that's easy, girlfriend, because most of us come into the health and fitness industry because it has changed our lives!

ALL THE EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD WON'T MATTER UNLESS...

Your value as a health and fitness professional—newly certified or veteran—has a lot to do with how you present yourself and believe in yourself and what you are offering, right?  

But there is an elephant in the room that many people refuse to look at or give credit where credit is due.  

The elephant is your subconscious programming, specifically your belief systems around money, wealth, giving and receiving, your self worth and your value as a human being on this planet.

People recommend that you have a good attitude, stay positive, keep working, you're doing everything right, try this tactic, give this new strategy a shot, you've got this and on, and on, and on . . . 

Although well meaning, if you HAVE been working your booty off, you HAVE experience out the wazoo, you have CLOUT and still you are not making the kind of money you want and deserve to make, we need to dig deeper.

Our lives are molded by our subconscious programming.  Henry Ford said "whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right!".  

Let's take it deeper and say . . .

if your subconscious programming is hardwired to the beliefs that you are not a worthy and valuable person, money is bad, and you don't deserve success, not matter how hard you try, you'll always hit a wall and end up feeling defeated, frustrated, and not understand why.

As Jen Sincero, author of You Are A Badass says, "it's not your fault that you are fucked up, it's your fault that you stay fucked up."

YOU CAN CHANGE the stories that you have been telling yourself for decades - the stories that were programmed into you as a child and through all of the experiences you've had in your life.  Some people swear by meditation, positive thinking, affirmations, prayer, reading personal development, and/or working with a coach.  All of that is great!
